Soft Cheese Lovers Box
This special box highlights the joyful characteristics of soft cheeses - soft, creamy, fudgy, ripe, rich, and flavoursome.
You'll get two of each cheese, giving soft cheese lovers plenty of scope to explore all aspects of these two cheeses that are a little bit French in style, but also uniquely Tasmanian.
Saint, 190g x 2
In the central plateau of France there are a number of cheeses that are all named after the local Saints. Like our Saint, they are all surface ripened, soft oozy cheeses with a light bloom on the rind – not a thick carpet of single strain white mould found on more commercial cheeses.
1792, 190g x 2
1792 - It was the year the French first set foot on Tasmanian soil and this very French, very pungent little cheese, matured on aromatic Huon Pine boards, celebrates what could have been. It is made in the traditional method – its pinky-orange rind the result of being regularly hand-washed in brine, encouraging the surface bacteria that give this cheese its complex flavour and aroma.
This box includes 2 x Saint and 2 x 1792, along with tasting notes and recommendations how to get the most enjoyment from your cheeses.
About Best Before Dates
These cheeses can be eaten younger, when the inside is still firm and the flavour more delicate, or wait until the curd breaks down completely and the flavour gets more pungent. Our cheesemaker labels each cheese with a "Best Before" date that give you the best indication when the cheese is at its peak ripeness. Our artisan soft cheeses don’t ‘expire’ on this date, they simply continue to mature.
Here at Bruny Island Cheese we recommend that you’ll get the most enjoyment if you serve your cheese around this date, or even a little after. You can certainly eat the cheeses earlier, and notice the difference in texture and flavour.
Add some Extras
We've left it up to you what else you add to this box.
Consider adding the paired beers to your order for the full Tasting Experience. Saint pairs perfectly with Whey Stout, while the perfect match for 1792 is Farm Ale.
Or if you're not in the mood for beer, choose from our range of house-made condiments.
